From the Student Handbook for TAPS: "The Capstone is a culminating project/experience designed by the student that fulfills the concentration track. TAPS capstones can take a variety of forms, such as a solo performance or dance piece, the writing of a play, an honor’s thesis or a design project, or directing a production. Students begin working on their capstone in the required senior seminar course, which is offered in the fall term. Capstone projects may be completed in either the fall with the termination of the Seminar, or in the subsequent spring term.”
HERE ARE GUIDELINES TO THE CAPSTONE.
The capstone is not just a requirement to
graduate. It is a chance to reflect on
your total experience in TAPS, and draw your work and ideas together in a
synthetic whole. It is also a requirement to graduate.
Students are not obligated to complete their capstone project to pass
the Senior Seminar. Rather, the
seminar is a forum to share your projects, and a scaffold to get these projects
underway.
Therefore, the following timeline will
provide a structure for developing the project:
1. Description of your project
2. Plan for implementation, with calendar points to hit (by October 10 I will have X, by November 10 Y, over winter break Z, final project A) ...
3. Potential advisor(s) on faculty and potential collaborators or participants
4. Brief escription of how this is a "culminating experience" for your concentration
© At regular intervals int he class, students will give updates on how their projects are proceeding and gather
suggestions or support as needed.
NOTE: Your project may change somewhat over the semester. If it changes significantly, please submit an updated project description when that happens, and at least by the time of the exit interview.
